NEGOTIATED PURCHASES SUMMARIES BELOW
DTN COMMENT: The country is quiet this afternoon with bids and asking prices
yet to be established, and significant trade volume will likely be delayed
until the second half of the week. New showlists appear to be mixed, higher
in Texas, and Nebraska/Colorado, but lower in Kansas.
Today's slaughter totaled 118,000 head, 7,000 more than last week, and 3,000
more than a year ago. Live cattle futures closed moderately to sharply
higher, up 35 to 122, while feeder issues ended the day sharply higher, up
245 to 287. Beef cutouts are expected to close higher with light to moderate
box movement.
